Since graduating in Film Studies and Sociology BA(Hons) in 2008, I’ve specialised in developing small scale film production for community projects. I am proficient in all elements from camerawork and editing to DVD authoring and cover design. I enjoy working in collaboration with other artists or practitioners to produce visual documentation either as evaluatory or celebratory tool.
I have experience of working with many different community groups through my past collaborations with State of Play artists and other local projects.
I’m interested in music production and keen to work with musicians on audio visual projects. I believe my work is greatly influenced by my love of art, and film art. The films which continue to inform my film making include Dziga Vertov’s Man With A Movie Camera, the short films of Jan Svankmejer, and documentaries by Werner Herzog. This photographic treatment of issues is a great influence on my work, and informs my method of storytelling through film. What I offer:
- tutoring in basic film skills for young people
- documenting projects or events.
- post-production: editing, DVD authoring.
- DVD cover design
Recent Projects:
Kick Off! – A football film project. With film maker, Simon Green I taught students basic filmmaking techniques to enable them to make a film about their football project. Kings Park School: Food Project - Working alongside Tony Horitz at King's Park School on the creation of a film dealing with children's' attitudes to food, as part the Dorset Food Festival. Corfe Hills School: Waste Project - Worked with local artist, Frances Hatch on a film to document her work with students at Corfe Hills School, creating art dealing with the issues around waste packaging and recycling. Unsafe 5 Festival - Documented the festival of experimental and improvised music held at the Lighthouse, Poole, in December 2009. Edited footage and hosted on the internet. When You Turn on the Tap: In early 2008 I traveled to Mexico with Tony Horitz to document a theatre project he led at a University in Lagos De Moreno, Jalisco. Over a period of two months, I filmed workshops, rehearsals and the final performance and produced a filmic document of the process. The aim of the project was to inform local townspeople about the dangers of drinking local tap water which was contaminated with excess levels of fluoride. My film 'When You Turn On The Tap' (Al Abrir La Llave) was about the project itself, the dedication of the students and their progress.
